Job Boards & Virtual Career Fairs

Context

At RegionalHelpWanted.com, Inc. in Poughkeepsie, NY, I designed and built front-end experiences for a portfolio of locally branded help-wanted sites and virtual career fairs. The company later operated under the onTargetjobs umbrella. Cupid.com was a sister consumer product under the same parent—covered as its own case study. In 2008 the parent company, which included Cupid.com, sold for $100MM.

Challenge

A small design-and-front-end practice had to keep hundreds of locally branded recruitment properties coherent, usable, and findable. Templates, SEO, and conversion patterns had to hold up across US and Canadian markets without becoming generic—or requiring a one-off site per city.

Process & Approach

   Designed and coded front-end interfaces for 350+ locally branded job board sites, balancing local identity with a shared information architecture.

2. 02

   Built Virtual Career Fair experiences (about 130 sites) for job seekers and exhibitors—registration, booth maps, and bilingual entry points.

3. 03

   Implemented stylesheets and interfaces in JavaScript, ColdFusion, MACH-II, XSLT, and PHP environments.

4. 04

   Worked with developers and outside consultants to establish usability, SEO/SEM, and conversion-rate optimization practices across the network.
